WSC is Moving to a New Home!

By October 10th, 2010 or 10/10/10, WSC will be moving into the black box space at the new Cultural Center in downtown Rosslyn at the former site of the Newseum. The 53,000 square foot center will house two other performance spaces, a ballroom, a café, an art gallery, a Wi-Fi town square, outdoor space for receptions, and much more. It will be open 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, and host more than 100 events each month. The black box will be a 125 seat theater with state-of-the art lights and sound. You can help WSC embark on this bold and exciting endeavor by making a donation today! To find out more about the cultural center, go to Arlington Arts

Wish The Actors Well

We are now giving our patrons the chance to wish the actors well in the program. You can support the cast by making a tax-deductible "break-a-leg" contribution to any production, at any financial level, however small or large. Send checks made out to Washington Shakespeare Company to 601 S. Clark Street, Arlington VA, 22202. Please note "break-a-leg" on the check so we will know to thank you in the program. Feel free to contact Jay Hardee at jaywhardee@msn.com or 703-418-4808 ext. 3 with any questions.

WSC Looks to You

WSC is proud of the role we fill in the DC theatre community. We consistently offer daring, evocative, and edgy productions of the broadest range of classic theatre in our highly flexible and intimate space. At WSC, audiences can expect exciting approaches to Shakespeare as well as the chance to see lesser-known work by other favorite playwrights. Audiences can also expect irreverent approaches to well-known classics as well as works that transport them to other cultures. We are proud to keep offering such dynamic, diverse, and unflinching plays. The community needs them.

In order to continue filling this vital role of ours, we are reaching out to you for help. We are a not-for-profit theatre, so the cost of your ticket only goes to a fraction of our operating budget. We rely heavily on grants and the generosity of our patrons, who help us ensure our continued presence in the community. We are delighted to accept tax-deductible financial contributions at any level, of course, but there are other ways you can be a part of making theatre happen at WSC. We have a wish list that we hope you will look over and consider ways you can help us keep important and exciting theatre in Crystal City and in Rosslyn next season. We need:

  • $$$$$
  • Power tools
  • Piano tuner
  • Volunteer coordinator
  • Photocopying services
  • Paper products
  • Webmaster
  • Videographer to record shows
  • Letter writers to Arlington County government
  • Gift cards to Home Depot, Shoppers Food Warehouse, Costco, Total Wine, etc.
  • New building
  • $$$$$

Please send checks made payable to Washington Shakespeare Company or any other contributions that can be mailed to Washington Shakespeare Company, 601 S. Clark Street, Arlington, VA, 22202. To arrange any other donations or to discuss the contribution of services, please call Karen Sugrue at 703-418-4808.
