Washington Shakespeare Conservatory

Currently, Washington Shakespeare Company is offering a Master Class, led by Helen Hayes Award winner and WSC Executive Producer, Lee Mikeska Gardner. This class is held on Sunday mornings between 10am and 1pm with a limited enrollment. The class is designed to work with each actor on his or her individual needs on an on-going, drop-in basis. Topics covered include audition monologues, audition cold readings, classical technique, understanding Shakespeare, physical and vocal warm ups, scene work and text analysis, voice work and general networking. 2005/2006 Season

H. Lee Gable will direct Cam Magee and WSC artistic director Christopher Henley, the stars of his brilliantly successful WSC production of The Night of the Iguana, in this reunion project. It has been seventy years since Hellman, the most prominent American female stage writer of the 20th century, scored her first hit with this play, but it remains all too timely. Seventy years of tumultuous identity politics will inform our production, which examines the play with particular attention to gender and sexual identity.
